Indicating that [Herbert] Winlock is in town and had informed him of Kent's poor health, for which he expresses great concern; describing "the most miserable winter that [he] can remember" and the "old rut of rushed and half-done work" that the Press has returned to; observing promise in Gordon Nobbs, assistant superintendant of the composing room; comparing their inferior equipment to that of Carl Rollins' at Montague Press and pointing out their weakened financial situation; emphasizing the inaccuracy of friend [Bryson] Burroughs' "glowing picture of life and work in Cambridge"; discussing developments on his plan to return to New York and set up a small press with [Hubert] Brown; indicating that he would like to be introduced to Paul Manship and possibly collaborate on a project.

Henry Watson Kent served as the first professional librarian of the Grolier Club from 1903 to 1906 and originated its classification scheme. He continued to serve the Club during the following decades through its Library, Publications and House committees, and its Council.
